Safe Haven & Safe from COVID-19

The Case for Hot Tubs as an Essential Business during the Pandemic

Can the COVID-19 virus spread through pools and hot tubs? There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.

In an effort to remain open during the pandemic Don Riling, Owner of Olympic Hot Tub, made his case that selling hot tubs was an essential business to Governor Jay Inslee, as well as the mayors of each city an Olympic Hot Tub showroom is located. These include Seattle, Everett, Woodinville, Issaquah, Fife, Lacey, and Auburn.
“Hot tubbing has always provided myriad health benefits. Some of those benefits—stress and anxiety relief and better sleep -are critical for our immune system”, offered Riling And, according to the CDC, a hot tub with proper sanitation is safe to use during this critical period. A haven at home is exactly what we all need. As a nation, we have not experienced this level of disruption in our lives since World War II.

For many, hot tubs are not recreational; they contribute to their health and well-being, keep them from visiting
the doctor and using less medication, and keep their immune system strong. Documented benefits from regular
hot tub soaking have been reported for many conditions, including but certainly not limited to: Rheumatoid
arthritis, Type 2 Diabetes, Herniated discs, Stress and anxiety, Insomniac sufferers, Fibromyalgia, Injury
recovery & rehabilitation.

Olympic Hot Tub’s customers rely on them to be available to service their tubs, perform sanitizing, draining &
refill services to keep their tubs clean and safe, and purchase sanitizing and balancing products to ensure
bacteria and virus growth cannot occur in hot water. Many customers have recently visited Olympic to purchase
hot tubs and create a safe haven at home where they know they can get relief and therapy without fear during
this critical period.

In addition to the proven health benefits, and information from the CDC that reinforce Mr. Riling’s claim, he
forwarded a letter from the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance, a national organization that works on behalf of the hot tub
industry. This letter offered additional information to support the hot tub business as one that is essential to
remain open to serve the public
