Passionate About Gardening? Hot Tub To Relieve Pain and Soreness the Morning After

June 6, 2011

It’s National Gardening Exercise Day. Who knew??!

Everyone knows gardening is therapeutic.  It’s good for the mind, body, and soul. Gardening Exercise Day gives us an opportunity to go out and burn off calories and have fun doing it (?).  National Gardening Exercise Day is intended to recognize the important physical health benefits of gardening.

In reality, gardening is exercise. Experts say the tasks of gardening ultimately uses all of the major muscle groups. In addition, strenuous gardening activities such as raking, hoeing, and digging is both aerobic and muscle strengthening.

Take time today to celebrate one of America’s favorite hobbies. Go out and exercise with, and among, your plants.  Seattle natives haven’t waited until today to celebrate. It’s finally sunny and I have friends who are gardening up a storm. No pun intended. Even the lack of good weather didn’t stop the weeds from growing. Now “it’s make up for lost time” by aerobic gardening 24/7.

If you’re not used to it, all that gardening can really make you sore the next day.  Using chest and back muscles that haven’t been used in a while plus all of the bending over can make your body cry for help.

The aerobic gardening association has a few suggestions on HOW to garden ergonomically, but there’s not way you’ll avoid muscle aches & pains. Soaking in your Hot Spring Spa after every gardening workout is a MUST.  Hot tub soaking eases muscle stiffness. That’s a fact and a promise. You won’t feel sore and sorry the next morning.  Why limp around with a sore back when you can prevent it by soaking after a vigorous bout of gardening? And, you’ll be able to go out and hit the turf again in your quest for garden perfection! (Is there ever a time when your garden’s perfect?)

No hot tub? We can remedy that. Check out Olympic Hot Tub Company’s line of  Hot Spring Spas. There’s one for every backyard and budget. And, for you gardeners who want to soak, but not give up much gardening space, there’s the Hot Spring Spa Jetsetter-prefect for 2-3. In garden-crazy Seattle, it’s our most popular model!
