Don’t Miss Tonight’s Blue Moon From Your Hot Tub
August Blue Moon Tonight!
Hot Tub soaking anytime is a great pleasure. Add a view of the night sky with a blue moon and that’s hot tub bliss.
It’s time for Hot tub Astronomy 101. Here’s a bit of history: full Moon names date back to Native Americans tribes of the area of the northern and eastern United States. The tribes kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring full Moon. The August moon is The Sturgeon Moon because Great Lakes Indian Tribes had an easier time of catching sturgeon during this time.
But this full moon is different from just an ordinary full moon.
It’s a Blue Moon, which can mean the second of two full moons in a single calendar month. A Blue Moon might also be the third of four full moons in a single season – a season being defined as the time period between a solstice and an equinox, or vice versa. This Blue Moon falls on August 20-21, 2013. It’ll be a Blue Moon by the seasonal definition, that is, the third of four full moons to take place in a season, in this case between the June 2013 solstice and September equinox. The last Blue Moon by this definition happened on November 21, 2010.
Whatever you call it, don’t miss tonight’s full moon from your Hot Spring Spa from Olympic Hot Tub. It will be gorgeously clear~fingers crossed. Elvis Presley, Mel Torme and several other big names covered “Blue Moon” . Play any version while you’re moon watching and you’re set.
