The days are getting shorter…is it affecting your mood? An infrared sauna may be the key

I don’t know about the rest of you, but the ten days leading up to December 21st are the ones I am not always excited about. It’s not about the rush of the holidays, or all the extra commitments with friends and family. It’s about the fact that it’s just so DARK! The Winter Solstice on the 21st marks the official beginning of winter, and is also the shortest day of the year with the least amount of daylight.

One of the things that has made this year’s darker days more bearable for me: I finally took the plunge and purchased a Finnleo Infrared Sauna that was delivered last month. I’m pretty sure I’m not imagining it: I’m noticing a difference in both my mood and my energy level that’s different from years past.

Infrared therapy has a myriad of health benefits. However, in my case, I think these three benefits are a result of my newly-started sauna regimen:

  • Warmth! I tell you this: Being enveloped in heat during the cold winter days really makes a difference for me. (Add to that the fact that my furnace decided to quit on me last Thursday during the cold snap we’re currently experiencing in Seattle…! But I digress…)
  • Infrared bathing increases blood flow while initiating increased endorphin production. Endorphins…can we ever get enough of them? They’re responsible for all kinds of positive benefits when released in your body, including serving to help ease pain, enhance your body’s immune response, and elevate your mood.
  • Light therapy. Finnleo Saunas feature an array of colored lighting to help with a variety of ills we humans attempt to manage. I tend to have the red lighting on during my sauna session, which is known to improve circulation. My other color of choice is blue, which is known to help combat depression.

If you’re one of the folks who find the darker days a bit of a slog, consider a Finnleo Infrared Sauna. It may help improve your winter time outlook and make the days a whole lot brighter!
