Spring is the perfect time to give your sauna a check up
May 4, 2018 – When weather turns nice and spring cleaning gets a jumpstart, oftentimes sauna owners don’t turn their eyes toward giving their sauna a freshening too. Spring is a perfect time to give your sauna a once over and make sure it’s in tip-top shape for all those sessions ahead. Here are some things to check off the list as you audit your sauna’s condition.
- Sauna rocks don’t last forever. If you have a traditional steam sauna, the rocks do eventually break down over time. For optimal performance, sauna rocks should completely cover the heater elements. If your rocks are crumbling, you’ll be amazed at what a new collection of them will do for your sauna sessions! Finnleo, our sauna manufacturer, offers vulcanite rocks which don’t crumble as easily and fill the room with softer steam heat. You’d love them. If you need to order more rocks, our Service Center can help.
- Is your sauna bucket or ladle looking a little worse for wear? One way to give your sauna a fresh new look is by adding a pop of color to the room with a new bucket and ladle. We offer a terrific array of authentic Finnish sauna accessories from Rento. They’re contemporary and beautiful.
- Spruce up those benches and back rests. Hopefully you’re using something to sit and lie back on when you’re in the sauna to help prevent stains from perspiration. (If you need a great option, check out Rento’s linen sauna seat covers.) If you have some staining, fine sandpaper should be able to address it and freshen up the benches and back rests. If you want to sanitize them as well, Sauna Clean is the answer. It will clean without drying out the wood, so you prevent any cracking or splintering.
If you happen to be in Olympic Hot Tub’s service area in greater Puget Sound, we offer Sauna Guard Service with our Valet Team. We’ll visit your sauna every six months and get it looking terrific for the season ahead! It’s a terrific way to make sure your sauna is well prepared to give you the much-needed relaxation and therapy you deserve.
