Two holiday drink ideas for your post hot tub soaking or sauna session
December 22, 2017 – I hope you’ve done all your shopping and gift wrapping, because the holiday is just about here! If you’ve been running yourself ragged with all the errands and commitments the season brings, I hope you’ll take time out and treat yourself and your loved ones to a soak in the tub or a sauna session as part of your celebration this weekend.
If you do, here are a couple of fun drinks to serve once everyone is warm and toasty to keep that feeling alive. Enjoy, and have a terrific holiday!
Candy Cane Cocoa
What you’ll need
- 4 cups milk
- 3 one-ounce squares semi-sweet chocolate, chopped fine
- 8 small peppermint candy canes
- 1 cup whipped cream
Heat the milk till nice and hot (not boiling). Crush four of the candy canes and whisk in the chocolate and crushed candy cane until completely melted. Pour into four mugs, top with whip cream and serve with a candy cane for stirring.
What you’ll need
- Half gallon apple cider
- Half gallon cranberry juice
- 1 cup lemon juice
- 1¼ cups pineapple juice
- ¼ cup clover honey
- ½ cup sugar
- 3 large orange cut into thin slices
- 24 whole cloves
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp ground allspice
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- 12 fresh mint leaves
In a good size pot mix together the cider, cranberry juice, lemon & pineapple juices, the slices of one large orange, cloves, honey, sugar & cinnamon sticks. Bring the mix to a boil, then reduce the heat to simmer. Add the nutmeg, ginger & allspice. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring periodically.
Pour into cups and serve warm, garnishing each with a mint leaf and an orange slice.
