Want to create some privacy for your hot tub oasis? Here are some ideas
May 15, 2018 – I recently went over to a friend’s house to give him some advice on where to place his new hot tub. He just bought a Hot Spring Jetsetter, and was obviously excited to own his very first hot tub! Once we had gone over his options and I recommended the spot I thought would be best, the topic of privacy in the tub came up.
This has happened quite often over the years, especially with folks who either live in the city or in neighborhoods where the homes were in close proximity to each other. If you’re one of those people who would like to create some privacy for your hot tub oasis, here are some suggestions.
- Privacy Screens—These can offer up a barrier in just the right place without taking up too much room. They’re also portable, so you could use them elsewhere on your patio or deck if you desire. Tri-fold designed ones create a bit of visual interest as well. For these, I would invest in some sandbags to place at the feet of the screen to guard against falling on windy days.
- Spa Umbrella—The umbrella that we offer is made by Leisure Concepts right here in Washington State. While you can use it for those occasions when you want to stay out of the rain, it’s designed to also tilt on its arm to help create just enough privacy when needed.
- Potted Plants—Strategically placed pots provide an instant shield from prying eyes and afford something pleasing visually while you soak. Bamboo that’s planted in the ground can run wild and cause you grief, but in pots near the tub it can be quite enjoyable.
- Covana—If you haven’t heard of Covana, you’d love it! This gazebo is automated. With the turn of a key it rises above your tub to create a shelter while you soak; when it’s down, it suddenly becomes the cover for the hot tub! Optional privacy screens can be added to any of the four sides to offer up just enough concealment for your soaks.
If you’re one of those who craves some extra privacy while you take a hot tub, hopefully one of these suggestions will do the trick!
