The reasons I love my hot tub!
I recently posted a blog about the reasons I love my infrared sauna. I thought it was only fair that I give my hot tub an equal amount of blog time, too!
My hot tub is truly one of the best things I’ve ever invested in for myself. And, as I get older, I value and appreciate and use it more than ever.
Here are the top reasons I love my hot tub.
- It helps me SLEEP! Boy, I don’t know about you, but it feels like getting a good night’s sleep becomes harder as the years progress. I know the pandemic did a serious number on my ability to get a restful night of slumber. During that time, I was living temporarily in an apartment and did not have access to a tub for regular soaks. When I moved to my new townhome four years ago, I couldn’t wait to get a hot tub again. I try to use my tub every night for about an hour to an hour and a half before bed. I find doing so relaxes me, signaling my body as it cools down that it’s ready to rest. I fall asleep faster, and do not wake up in the night as often as I do when I don’t soak before bed. Boy, has it made a difference!
- I’m lucky enough to have my tub on a rooftop deck. I really love soaking in my tub and looking up into the night sky and enjoying the stars. The few times we in the Northwest have had a chance to get a peak at the Aurora Borealis, I’ve seen a bit of the multi-colored light show in the north sky. (Wish I could see more, but I’m smack dab in the city!)
- Muscle relief. I’m in my sixties now, but I’m still trying to get to a gym at least three times a week. I swear I get sore faster, and it takes longer to recover now! Hot tubbing helps relieve some of that post-workout achiness and allows me to do some stretching in the tub as well.
- Time to reflect. I rarely take time to close my eyes and just… Mindfulness is absolutely something I could use more of in my life, and I am really bad about making time for it. The hot tub gives me that opportunity! It’s a terrific place to purge, open myself up and get a chance to reflect on the good things in life. Don’t we all need more of that?
- Feeling lighter. Immersion in a body of water and taking the weight off your joints and limbs is a sensation that is unique. It’s wonderful to feel that lightness for a short bit of time. That might sound silly, but if you’re feeling the weight of the day? It makes a big liberating difference.
- It helps with jet lag. I travel quite a bit for both work and pleasure. Those time zone changes can certainly wreak havoc! I find if I make a point of soaking the day I get back at the time I typically would, I get reset back to my home’s time zone much more quickly. It also definitely does my body good after lugging suitcases around, sitting in airports, and dealing with long periods in airplane seats.
I appreciate my hot tub more now than ever! It helps me cap off each day, and I sincerely think it’s helping me stay healthier and more centered. If you’re ready to make hot tubbing part of your wellness routine, our line of saltwater Hot Spring Spas will do the trick. You’ll only say one thing once you can relax at home in your own hot tub every day: “Why did I wait so long?”
