Ready to embrace the dark? Soak under the New Moon

November 2, 2018

November 2, 2018 – Hard to believe it, but it’s time to “fall back” this weekend and turn the clocks back one hour. It’s part of the progression of full immersion into fall, with winter just around the corner.

So many bemoan this time of year. It’s hard to let go of the extra daylight we relish so much during spring and summer! One way to give yourself permission to embrace the longer nights and shorter days? Take in the New Moon from your hot tub.

November’s New Moon arrives this coming Wednesday, November 7th. Sunlight normally reaches the side of the moon facing away from the earth, providing us the welcoming light of our planetary friend. On the 7th, because of its position in the heavens during this period our normal beacon in the night sky will be completely hidden from view for about a day.

This is a terrific time to head out to the hot tub for a soak that might afford you the opportunity to see many of the stars in the total darkness the absence of moonglow will allow. I always find soaking during a New Moon seems especially peaceful. Floating in a big body of water outside in the crisp night air is a special quiet time to stargaze, reflect, meditate and soak in the healing power of water.

There’s so much on the horizon that will keep all of us crazy busy in the next two months! Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukah, holiday travel, entertaining, year-end work commitments, and the coming of 2019 (wow!). Take advantage of your hot tub to keep you balanced and give yourself that important “me” time that seems so incredibly hard to find this time of year.

Happy soaking!
