Hot Spring Spas and SpaceX Team Up To Launch “Spaman” On Next Falcon Heavy Launch

April 1, 2018

April 1, 2018 – SpaceX and Hot Spring Spas announced today the next payload for SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy program will be “Spaman”, a life-sized astronaut dummy enjoying an interstellar dip in a state-of-the-art Hot Spring Limelight Collection Spa.  Both companies debuted the plans in a joint press conference in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The announcement came almost 2 months after SpaceX founder, Elon Musk, captivated the world when he launched his own personal Tesla into space with “Starman” manning the helm of Musk’s vehicle.  “Today we continue the journey.  Hot Spring Spas, like SpaceX, is on the cutting-edge of our industries as both companies seek to disrupt our respective businesses and advance our technology to new heights,” Musk said to a cheering crowd.

The idea was the brainchild of Don Riling, Olympic Hot Tub’s owner and president who is personal friends with Elon Musk.  Riling explained, “Elon and I have known one another for more than 20 years.  On a recent vacation to Seattle, Elon took a test soak in one of our newly re-designed Limelight Collection models and remarked at the beauty and thoughtful design.  I joked that he should send one of our hot tubs into space.  If we did, we would have extraterrestrials from throughout the Milky Way flocking to Earth for a dip.”  Musk loved the idea.  That afternoon Riling, Musk, and Watkins Wellness (the parent company of Hot Spring Spas) President, Steve Hammock, were on the phone planning the mission.

“I would like to thank Don Riling, Elon Musk, and the SpaceX and Hot Spring Spas families for their hard work and dedication to not just our companies, but to all of mankind.  It is our hope that we can spread wellness and goodwill to planets throughout our galaxy. Whether it is health or space travel, our efforts today will have positive effects for generations to come,” declared Hammock.

Similar to the last mission, the Hot Spring Spa Limelight hot tub control panel will carry a message “Welcome to the Wellness Generation” in honor of Olympic Hot Tub’s commitment to the health and

well-being of their customers. Elon Musk elaborated, “We had “Don’t Panic” displayed on the screen of my Tesla during the first Falcon Heavy Launch, which we all got a big laugh from.  However, now that we have a successful mission under our belt, we decided the message should be more positive.  To us, Olympic Hot Tub has always been a beacon of health and happiness and we thought there would be no better message to send throughout our universe.

The launch should take place sometime later this summer.
