10 Tips for Hosting a Fun Labor Day Hot Tub Party
An invitation to a hot tub party is a promise of a good time. Everybody gets to make a splash. The perfect Labor Day Party is all about good, clean fun. Just add people. So start planning now!
Here are 10 ways to ensure that the evening is even more sparkling:
10. INVITE THE PARTY PEOPLE, NOT THE PARTY POOPERS.
Pick the people who like to soak up the fun, or the right ratio of tubbers and snack table huggers. Make sure the list keeps the tub from getting too crowded for everyone who wants in.
9. FIRST IMPRESSION DAZZLES.
Make sure the water in your Hot Spring Spa is clean and clear, with plenty of clarifier and sanitizer on hand, so the unveiling of the evening’s entertainment is a sparkling movement.
8. BACK IT UP.
The best-laid plans need an Option B in case of a power outage, storm or water-averse guests, so have some ideas for spare activities on hand.
7. APPETIZING FOOD.
Appetizers that can be appetizing in the water or out, such as veggies and dip, skewered fresh fruit, chicken or shrimp kabobs and egg rolls, work best. Spilled chips in the tub are NOT appetizing.
6. DON’T MIX ALCOHOL AND WATER.
Drinks while soaking should include bottled waters, juices and sodas, but drinking alcohol in the hot water is asking for a hangover. Save the toasts for after the tub.
5. SUIT YOUR GUESTS.
Self-conscious people might “forget” their swimsuits to avoid a soak with strangers, then regret that they can’t come on in when they see the water’s fine. Stock some spare suits at end-of-season sales to make them feel comfortable.
4. DRY AND DRYER.
Trust me, you don’t have too many towels. Guests might want to soak and dry several times during the party, and nothing puts a damper on the evening like a moist swimsuit on the carpet or furniture cushions. Smart hosts start cycling the washer and dryer early.
3. WIDEN THE WATER WORLD.
With the tub as the centerpiece, pick playthings that fit – rubber duckies to race, waterproof playing cards, floating checkerboards, maybe plastic leis for a Hawaiian theme. Add some solar-powered lanterns to light up the night. Be prepared for rain with umbrella hats for everyone.
2. SOUND WAVES.
Pick your party’s soundtrack to please your guests and add pizzazz to you theme. With many newer hot tubs, you already have music and an iPod docking station. If not, get an Outcast wireless sound system for great sound to jazz up the festivities.
1. PLAY THE HOST.
If you want your guests to have a good time, have one yourself. Sit back, relax, and show them how to go with the flow.
